About the Doctors

Dr. Joseph Vitagliano
Dr. Joe Vitagliano Dr. "Joe" was raised in Long Island. He attended Grace Day School until 8th grade. He then went to high school at Chaminade, which set the stage for his journey out of the local area. Dr. Joe attended Duke University, North Carolina, for his undergraduate studies. After completing college, he came back north to the University of Connecticut for a four-year dental program from which he received his D.M.D. Dr. Joe’s formal education was completed during his stay at New York University for which he received his specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Dr. Joe specialized in treating patients requiring orthognathic surgery, cleft palate intervention and temporomandibular joint disorders. He is a member of the American Orthodontic Association and serves on the staff of Good Samaritan Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Dr. Pasquale Vitagliano
Dr. Pasquale Vitagliano Dr. "V" is a trained, certified and licensed orthodontist having received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from New York University. After two years of military service as a dentist and one-year internship, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University to earn his Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Orthodontics. He holds the highest honor in orthodontics (which very few on Long Island have accomplished). He is a Diplomate member of the American Board of Orthodontics. He is also an Associate Professor in the graduate orthodontic program at Stony Brook University Dental School. In addition, he serves on the staff of Long Island Jewish and Good Samaritan Hospitals. His education and experience make him well versed in the diagnosis and treatment of orthodontics, orthognathic (face/jaw) reconstruction and temporomandibular (TMJ-TMD) disorders.

Dr. Joseph Salierno DMD, ABO
Dr. Pasquale Vitagliano Dr. Salierno received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College in 1972, majoring in biology. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1977. Dr. Salierno then completed a two-year orthodontics certification residency at Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry in 1979.

Dr. Salierno began practicing orthodontics in Astoria in 1980. He achieved board certification in orthodontics in 1991, becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Salierno is a member of the Queens County and New York State dental Societies, the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontics, and the Steinway Dental Study Group.

Dr. Salierno is a founding member of Dentists for a Better Huntington, a charitable organization, which raises funds and makes charitable donations to various organizations in the Huntington community, where he also practices.

Dr. Thomas Mortillaro
Tom received his Bachelor of Arts degree from NY University in 1989 for his undergraduate studies. After completing college, he attended a four year dental program at NY University College of Dentistry from which he received his DDS degree. He graduated and was elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. Dr. Mortillaro followed his education by enrolling in a general practice residency of Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, followed by a second year Chief general dental residency also at Maimonides. He then went into private practice from 1995-2006; performing all phases of general dentistry including implant restorations. Dr. Mortillaro's formal education was completed when he finished a three year specialty Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedics Residency at Maimonides Medical Center. He is a member of the American Dental Association, 2nd District Dental Society, and the American Orthodontic Association.
